Expert's Active Contribution Assessment - How Mobile Technology will Help Businesses Enlarging their Foot-Print Globally

1. Tell us in brief about your company. What was the idea behind starting Mobilunity?

While we are approaching our 11th anniversary now, there are two birth dates to say in what we do. The 1st one, ten years ago, Mobilunity’s primary service was centered on all-around project-based software development outsourcing. With a few technologies like PHP and JS, and WordPress as a CMS, we could attract clientele for supporting and developing over 1000 websites. Still, our clients wanted access to a wider stack of technologies and, more importantly, to have higher control over the team. 4 years ago, in 2016, we acquired our first client utilizing our Dedicated Development Team model. This client, a food tech startup from Paris, France, is still with us and reminds us of that important shift we made years ago toward the Dedicated Development Teams model.

2. How do you provide direction in Mobilunity? What is your role within a company?

I  was lucky to get the best managerial talent in Ukraine to run our business as a team. I often interview people recommended by my Recruiting department as those who brought our competitors to a higher level. I must admit that too few of these people impress me as much as those we already have on board.

This said, my duty is to help my fellow managers do their job well. To make it happen, they have to possess the right level of awareness of what’s happening in the Company and our current challenges. Ensuring this level of transparency, I am halfway done with my duty. The other half would still be having these little clarity talks on priorities, obstacles, and opportunities for every role and direction of our Company.

Speaking of domains, I put the most significant effort into things I have the most success and experience with, such as Operations, Marketing, and Finances, ensuring our service is built in an optimal way, where our expenses are all rational and that our clients will not receive additional costs for something that is of no need into the bill they would need to pay.

3. What achievements of yours are you most proud of in the Industry?

We understand that the industry is large and diverse and that every Company has a different metric for achievements. Therefore, we focus on the connections we have built and our progress in entering new markets and expanding our reach. We have over 40 clients in more than 11 countries across 3 continents as far away as North America to the West and Japan to the East. We take this as an indication that our offering is diverse and that we are making genuine connections with our clients.

4. Where do you see your company in the next five years?

In addition to us being global in delivery, we are becoming more and more international regarding representation. With that being said, Mobilunity becoming more Global also means we can penetrate some very niche markets, often with a unique proposal that no one else has offered before. We've seen this happen in some particular GEO markets or verticals, and we see that providing industry or market-tailored proposals that our clients love, is our strength.

We launch new services, we experiment with engagement models, and we continue feeling the tendencies and trends so that we can remain flexible and keep our operations at the very cutting edge of what companies in our market offer.

Within the next few years, we will be even more open to partnerships and exploring synergies between the core of our service and niche vendors operating on narrow markets. We plan to continue learning, building upon the best practices in our service delivery - both from our clients and competitors- and to continue growing together with our clients while sharing in their successes.

5. What are the key factors to be considered before selecting the right vendor for outstaffing services?

That's a great question—transparency, flexibility, and, most notably, the mindset and fit of the Vendor's management team. In my experience, those are the most critical factors for a company to consider in a vendor once they have already chosen outstaffing as a model.

Why so? You won't be building a remote team by yourself, so you will have to rely on other people interacting face-to-face with your remote engineers daily. The way these people organize a working environment for the team, the way they approach problems (as there will be some!), and the way you are notified of the entire picture are very important so that you can make sure you are making the right decisions both for you and your team. These are all critical questions you must have answers to before choosing a vendor.

6. What technological trends do you see driving growth and innovation in the years to come?

Growth and innovation will always be driven by the desire to bring value to businesses or to  Humanity overall. Technologically speaking, IoT, Blockchain, and Big Data are all tools that in the right hands will continue to give innovators in various industries the ability to drive growth.

You don't have to search too hard to see how the CoViD-19 pandemic has united some of the brightest minds around the world, around these technologies, to find fast, and reliable solutions to problems that have affected our way of life. IT will continue to be the means by which those minds are able to bring their innovations to life.

Over the past decade, we’ve seen that these technological advancements in regards to IoT, Blockchain, and Big Data, have fed into various trends that are helping shape this new normal we are preparing ourselves for, as in Digital transformation, usage of AI/VR and more

7. In terms of corporate strategy, what do you think are the main drivers that make your company stand out from the crowd?

Our corporate strategy is still built around people and is defined by our core principles. Those core principles can be defined by our 3Rs approach to nearshoring. Relationships, Recruitment, and Retention. It is our belief that our clients choose us based on the strength we show in these three categories and how it shapes our methodologies and interactions. There are plenty of companies that offer similar services to what we offer. Many of our competitors have the same tone, similar websites, and remarkable sales pitches. We focus on being upfront and honest about our expertise and experiences (good or bad), and forming genuine relationships with our clients based on our 3Rs. At the end of the day, the only way to stand out from the crowd is to not follow the crowd, and that's what we aim to do, innovate instead of following and copy.
